Balm

A medicinal ointment used on the skin. Can be both water and oil based. Often used to target specific skin concerns.


Body Butter

Water-free and preservative-free moisturizer that contains only plant butters and oils. Thicker and greasier in application than lotions. Slow absorption. Recommended for cracking, dry and sensitive skin in order to lock in existing moisture.


Cream

Cream has many different definitions in skincare. Mostly refers to water based ointments and moisturizers that contain preservatives. They are often thicker in application than lotions.


Body & Face Oils

Water-free and preservative-free moisturizers that contain only herbal infused plant oils. Slow absorption. Recommended for dry, sensitive and troubled skin to target specific concerns and to lock in existing moisture.


Lotion

Water based moisturizer that contains preservatives. Quick absorption and instant hydration. Thinner application than creams. Recommended for thirsty and hardened skin.


Salve

Water-free and preservative-free ointment used on the skin. Made with plant butters, oils and beeswax or alternatively, tallow. Salves can be used as moisturizers or to relieve specific skin concerns.


Serum

Water based moisturizer that contains preservatives. Quick absorption and instant hydration. Recommended on acne-prone, dull and thirsty skin. Excellent to use for pores that clog easily.

Electuary

Honey mixed with dried powdered herbs. Kid-friendly and yummy way to take herbs.


Oxymel

Plant extract made with vinegar and honey. Sweet and sour taste. Perfect for preserving the nutritional value of fresh herbs.


Tisane

Plant infusion made with hot water.


Tincture

Plant extracts made with alcohol (liquor and spirits). Extremely shelf-stable.


Glycerite

Alcohol-free plant extract with a sweet, syrupy flavor and consistency. Safe for kids and those who choose not to or those who are unable to consume alcohol.
